Whoa...

I just realized that my last entry was in April 2005! I knew it had been awhile, but I didn't realize just how long. Well, let's try to catch it up a bit, shall we? The band (motord bob) broke up shortly after that last post. Jen and I had taken a trip out west- Sedona, the Grand Canyon, and Las Vegas. We met her mom and her boyfriend Steve out there. It was a great trip. When we got back, that's when Craig (our bass player/singer and great friend) called to say that he wasn't into it anymore. He wanted to write stories. It was a shock. Totally out of left field. So I said okay. Time to move on, I guess. I still miss the music, though. Joe and I jammed off and on with my cousin Marc (a very gifted musician) and with Joe's friend Jason (who is also good). Nothing more than that happened with it, so I concentrated on my art. I did some things that make me proud. I realized that I might have been spending too much time on the music part of my life (and not really taking it anywhere) and neglecting the art. If I get a chance, I'll try to post the digital files I have, if they are not too big. Other than that the year went by quickly. Jen's diligence with her school paid off and she was accepted to Virginia Commonwealth University and their accelerated nursing program. We might just be moving there! We have to wait to see what happens with her other applications to New York, Missouri, Arizona and Colorado. So now begins the preparations! Getting stuff cleaned up and out, in order to get the house ready to sell and get ourselves ready to move. It happening! Time to look for a new place to live and look for a new job. A new beginning...exciting!

New Day?

Well, it's been awhile since I last put an entry. A great deal has happened but how important is it? I've been dreaming almost every night. Guess that means I'm getting the sleep I need. Saw Ed and Randi Saturday, Tony Cindi and Mikey on Sunday. Kinda busy, but lots of fun. On Saturday, Jen and I took Ed and Randi to El Azteca for great Mexican food. After, we went to Coldstone Creamery for ice cream. Saw a guy, Tom, that I went to school with (K-12) and haven't seen in awhile. It was cool talking to him. He looks exactly the same from the last time I saw him ( he said the same of me). The ice cream made us giddy...all that sugar!
We (motord bob) had shows on March 3 (Whiskey in the Jar, Hamtramck) and March18 (Pub 1281, Mt. Clemens with Bamboo Shoes). Both went well, even though I was sick during the last one. At Whiskey we played only about 40 minutes. Being that it was part of the Blowout, there were three other bands, so we all had short sets. It was still fun and the feedback was encouraging, even though we don't justify our worth to ourselves by that; it's nice to get it just the same. At Pub 1281, we had about two hours to play. We did nearly everything we know and some new stuff. We are just waiting on show dates for Mephistos (art show opening) and another Pub 1281 gig. They are supposed to be sometime this month. Actually I hope that it is in May. Joe is finishing up with his last semester of college, so he'll be busy. We are working on new music and revisiting older stuff. The more that we play, the more I want to play. It feels great and I love the end result. I have been looking around for a studio that we could use to do some recording in. There are so many choices, but only a few correct ones for us. We have enough material for 2 or three full length albums. I don't think I am the only one anxious to get it down. It will help us to move forward. We can play, definitely. We just need the opportunities. If they don't come naturally, then we should try to create them. There have been a few friends that have been asking about t shirts, so there is something we could work on. Maybe bumper or other stickers also. Ah, the possibilities.

Misc. blah-blah-blahs

Danny sent me a note saying that motordbob.com was up and running. Yes!!! Go here if yer curious: www.motordbob.com . He did a great job. We just have to get some more content together for it, but at least it's a start. I also found out that we were picked for the Metro Times Blowout this year. That's cool! We are the first band on March 3, at 9pm, at Whiskey in the Jar on Yemens near Joseph Campeau in loverly Hamtramck. I'm excited to play at such an event(with over 200 bands). It's a new crowd, so we'll see how it goes.

Strange Days

What a strange weekend. I find out that two very close friends are having marital problems and are separated. I never would have thought it would happen to them. I hope that they can work it out. I also witness two other friends become engaged to each other. Jen and I were invited to a suprise anniversary party for Randi's parents(Randi and Ed are together, and I worked with her once a long time ago). To be honest, I didn't why we were invited seeing that I had only been around her parents a few times. I thought that maybe it was for 'authenticity' because her parents thought that the party was being thrown by Ed for her college graduation. But it turns out that we were there to see Ed propose! Danny was supposed to be there too, but couldn't be because he's in California. I guess 'bittersweet' would be a good description of my weekend. Anyhow, I hope my friends can work it out. It's hard to see someone(especially the someones you care for) in such pain, with not so much as a damn thing you can do to help but listen. As for Randi and Ed, well I wish them the best.

Ahh, books!

Sometimes I'm a reading fool! Jen just shakes her head when she asks if I've finished a particular book and I say yeah. It doesn't take long. I've devoured two in as many weeks: 'The Complete Western Stories of Elmore Leonard' and 'Cash the Autobiography'. Good stuff! I just started 'Woody Guthrie: A Life'. I bought it for my dad some time ago. I'm not sure why, I just thought he'd like it. He said it was hard to read because of all the shit that happened to Woody, but it was still good. From what I've read, I agree, it IS hard to read. This one will take me awhile.

It's the 20th...you know what that means

It's December 20th, you know what that means- five more days to get your shopping done and Danny's on a plane back to California, if he's not there already. I can't believe how much I this messes with me. Ah well, it's not like we're not friends still. It's that change bullshit. I gotta deal with it better. Maybe a New Year's Resolution?
